Exactly a year after a successful demo of the Toyota Hilux Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) at a World Rally Championship event in Kenya, TSAM introduces the 48V technology to selected Hilux and Fortuner models. This aligns with Toyota’s multi-pathway approach to reducing carbon emissions, offering diverse eco-friendly powertrain options.
The 48V technology integrates a motor generator, 48-volt battery, and DC/DC converter into the reliable 2.8-litre GD-6 turbo-diesel powertrain and six-speed automatic transmission. This enhances fuel economy, powertrain smoothness, and off-road capabilities. Key benefits include:

Additional updates include black side mirrors, door handles, rear bumper, and tailgate handle on the 2.8 models. The 2.4 model gains retractable mirrors, while the 2.8 includes leather seats and 8-way power seat adjustment on the driver’s side. The Raider 48V adds features like jam protection, auto up/down windows, push start, smart entry, and Multi-Terrain Select.
